Lady Gaga And Gugu Get Fab: 10 Must-See Celebrity Fashion ... Posted: 07 Sep 2014 01:16 PM PDT Plus, I need your thoughts on Jessica Chastain's dress... Well, I'm still not over how fabulous Rihanna looked at New York Fashion Week, but we have a few other looks to discuss as well. I don't know if any of you have heard of Gugu Mbatha-Raw, but she recently starred in Belle, and has been getting some serious buzz lately. She hit up the Toronto International Film Festival (her new movie Beyond The Lights just premiered there) and these photos of her in this floral Delpozo gown just blew me away. And everyone has been taking about Lady Gaga in this Alexandre Vauthier Couture custom tuxedo. Oh, and then there's Jessica Chastain's pink dress (which has been getting lots of attention), but I LOVED the back & white look on her. Your thoughts??? Peep the gallery for more! ![]() |
Radar Online | Don't Quit Your Day Job! 20 Failed Celebrity Clothing ... Posted: 09 Sep 2014 04:49 AM PDT ![]() ![]() Mandy Moore seems to have disappeared from the limelight. But before she headed off into the sunset – and apparent wedded bliss with husband, singer Ryan Adams – she ended her clothing brand Mblem after just four years in 2009. ![]() It seemed to make economic sense. A hip-hop artist known for wearing newspaper boy hats launches his own line with a celebrity – Jeremy Piven – fronting the brand. But Soji Hats fizzled in 2009 after just two years on the market. ![]() Gym, Tan, Laundry…create a fashion line? If you're Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino from 'Jersey Shore,' who launched Situation Nation in 2011, that's what you do. Just make sure that when you do launch your (un)successful fashion empire you have your financial house in order. In November 2013 it was revealed he was under federal investigation for his business dealings. ![]() Unfortunately for Andre 3000 his quirky fashion sense never really translated into big sales and, despite the launch of his clothing line Benjamin Bixby to great fanfare in 2008, it fizzled out a year later. But in a 2012 interview with "GQ" the OutKast rapper promised to reboot the brand, calling it Bixby instead. ![]() With the success of Rocawear and Sean Jean it seemed a smart move when Busta Rhymes launched his own fashion wear in 1999. There was only one problem. Fans of the "Make It Clap" rapper were not applauding the line, and it went bust in 2000. ![]() Only the strongest fashion brands were able to survive the most recent economic recession that began in 2008. LL Cool J's fashion line for Sears was not one of them. By mid-2009 – a year after the rapper launched the venture – it was over. ![]() Fat Joe's clothing line FJ560 reportedly didn't last longer than a year, failing in 1998. ![]() During his brief moment in the sun, Kevin Federline – AKA the former Mr. Britney Spears – tried his hand at rapping and launching a kids' clothing line. But despite telling "Women's Wear Daily" that he was taking his interest "seriously" and wanted to "make a quality product for kids," nothing materialized. ![]() In 2009 Jon Gosselin – who just loved wearing Ed Hardy T-shirts – launched his own clothing line called Gosselin Gear. The brand sunk like a stone. ![]() Fashion success doesn't go hand-in-hand with chart success, as DMX learned when his Earl Simmons Signature Collection and DMX Authentic lines fizzled soon after they launched in 2006. ![]() Chris Kirkpatrick's clothing line Fu-Man Skeeto did just what his career did post his *NSYNC days – tanked. ![]() We think that Miley Cyrus probably wants to forget the clothing line that she did for Wal-Mart with fashion designer Max Azria. Launched in 2009 back in "Hannah Montana" days it's now non-existent. ![]() "Heidi Montag has her talents – creating drama on 'The Hills' without appearing to read laboriously from cue cards…but design (or even getting dressed, for that matter) has never been among them." "NY Magazine's" searing review of Montag's clothing line Heidiwood could explain why it didn't last more than seven months. ![]() Sometimes celebrity fashion lines fail because the company they've hitched their wagon to goes down the toilet. That's what happened to Dear by Amanda Bynes, which was discontinued when retailer Steve & Barry's went bankrupt in 2008. ![]() Like Amanda Bynes, Sarah Jessica Parker's clothing line – Bitten – was sold at Steve & Barry's. So when the retailer went bust, the "Sex and the City" star's affordable fashion brand went with it. ![]() Maybe The Game should have asked his rumored former paramour, Khloe Kardashian, about tips on how to run a clothing venture. His upscale, urban fashion line The Frank Pace Collection launched – and bombed – in the mid-nineties. ![]() Like the fashion brands of most teenyboppers, Lil' Bow Wow's clothing line Shago probably failed because he grew up, changed his image or both. The brand reportedly went bust in 2006 after just three years on the market. ![]() Andre 3000 had already experienced a failed fashion line by the time he launched his solo venture. He and OutKast partner Antwan "Big Boi" Patton tried to convert their chart success into fashion sales. But their OutKast Clothing brand tanked in 2004 after just two years. ![]() In 2008 Lindsay Lohan launched her own leggings line – 6126 – that was a nod to her idol, Marilyn Monroe. (The screen legend was born on June 1, 1926.) But even Ms. Monroe couldn't save the fashion line that descended into a legal spat of lawsuits and counter suits between LiLo and the company that licensed the name 6126. ![]() Note to David Hasselhoff. Don't Hassel The Hoff T-shirts are cute. A clothing line called Malibu Dave, not so much. ![]() |

Gingham, already on view at Altuzarra on Saturday, made a re-appearance, fashioned by von Furstenberg in black and white, or blue, in cropped shorts, silk jersey dresses, poplin tops and on sandals and handbags. ![]() REUTERS/Carlo Allegri Gingham on the runway at the Diane Von Furstenburg show. Campbell put in a second appearance at the celebrity-studded after party hosted by Donatella Versace to celebrate Belgian-Italian designer Anthony Vaccarello's first runway show for the brand. Donatella, 59, dressed in a little black dress embellished with gold safety pins from the catwalk, entertained Campbell, Barbadian superstar Rihanna and actress Jennifer Hudson. Champagne flowed and candy stations dished out lollipops and chocolates, as paparazzi photographed Donatella's every move and burly bodyguards kept TV cameras from getting too close. Black leather, gold safety pinsVaccarello's high-energy show was a study in black and gold, white and silver, leather and meshing in the traditional Versace sexy, slinky, bling style. ![]() REUTERS/Carlo Allegri The little black dress, reworked, on the Versace runway. There were sharp black jackets with military-style gold buttons, and gold buckles on wide black belts and black stilettos. Black gowns were cut deep at the chest and held up by the thinnest of gold metal coils and a black leather miniskirt with gold buttons down the front. Gold also played a starring role in the form of a gold leather miniskirt with gold safety pins to one side, and a gold blazer paired with tight black trousers. For men, there was a black leather shirt with gold buttons. Besides the preponderance of black, there were shirts, trousers, miniskirts and bomber jackets in white with black geometric patterns. Earlier, Karan's DKNY line was one of infinite color and texture encapsulating modern classics, sports elements and playful geometry in "a sexy mix of street and chic." ![]() Peter Michael Dills/Getty Images DKNY's show featured heavy geometric patterns. An iconic New York designer, she paid homage to the Big Apple as "the world in one place" and as multicolored, multicultural and multitasking. Her models strutted down the runway at top speed in blazing red, ink blue, green, mustard, nude, black and white, all mixed up and mixed together in different materials, in a loft above the High Line public walkway. Safari chicAcross town, Spice Girl turned footballer's wife turned designer Victoria Beckham unveiled a collection showcasing safari chic and her first shoe line. ![]() REUTERS/Carlo Allegri Safari style at Victoria Beckham's show. Victoria said the imminent opening of her first flagship store in London had "inspired and pushed" her "to focus on the DNA of my brand more than ever." Long a fan of a very precise, tailored silhouette, her spring/summer 2015 collection showcased a safari look. There were mini-dresses with boxy pockets, hopsack-style; a long, belted coat; shirts with shoulder pads; as well as a black jacket with shoulder pads worn over a long white dress with wide black stripes at the bottom. There were also some floral prints, a rarity for Beckham. Beckham said she wanted to create "an eclectic uniform in the form of an exact yet wearable wardrobe that embodies the evolution of the collection." But the chatter after the show was all about her first shoe collection: towering platform black sandals edged with beige, and white leather flats decorated with flowers. "Creating all the elements of the collection under one roof enabled me to complete and strengthen the silhouette and this has been key in the design journey for me," she said. ![]() |
