The New York Fashion Week Celebrity Leaderboard | Vanity Fair

Posted: 09 Sep 2014 12:02 PM PDT

Every Fashion Week, one or two celebrities emerge as omnipresent, people who seem to be everywhere: every front row, every party, every secret after-party. They're on your Instagram feed, splashed across your favorite blogs, in your dreams at night (O.K., maybe that last one's just us). We decided, for this year's Fashion Week revelry, we would try to track who—out of the sea of beautiful and famous people descended upon New York this week—was the "winner," which of the luminaries was the most ubiquitous. After taking in the first few days of action and carefully assessing the images on the wires, we have narrowed down our field to these six: Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Whoopi Goldberg, Joe Jonas, and Kendall Jenner. We assigned "points" based on four criteria: appearing in the front row at a show, taking a Fashion Week selfie, showing up at a Fashion Week party, and wearing sunglasses to a Fashion Week show, Wintour-style.

With just about 48 hours left to go this Fashion Week, it's a tight race. Rihanna, Whoopi (an unexpectedly strong showing from the EGOT-tress!), Nicki (who perhaps deserves a bonus point for the stellar vines in which she teaches models the "Anaconda" dance), and Middle Jonas, Joe, are tied for the lead. Kendall (whom we are assigning "front row" points for each show she walks in), and Miley are still within reach of the lead, however. And if there's anyone who should never be counted out in any circumstance, it's Miley Cyrus.

Update, 9/12: New York Fashion Week is in the books and, ladies and gentleman, we have an (unlikely) winner: Whoopi Goldberg. Whoopi ended up routing the competition, appearing at eight shows and one party (and she was the lone competitor to wear sunglasses to a show). Why was Whoopi so ubiquitous this year? Because of her 19-year-old granddaughter Jerzey, who had reportedly asked to be taken around and was seen at her grandmother's side at nearly every show.
