Star Wars The Force Awakens Premiere <b>Celebrities</b> Couples <b>...</b>

Star Wars is one of the biggest franchises in the world - so we were expecting big things from the Star Wars: The Force Awakens premiere.

Luckily, we weren't left disappointed: the stars turned out in their hundreds, pulling off all sorts of antics on the red carpet to leave us even more excited for tonight, when we can finally see the film in all its glory.

Leading lady Daisy Ridley looked overwhelmingly beautiful in a white dress, retro curled hair and natural make-up, while one of the movie's lead actors, John Boyega, looked dapper in a shiny purple suit and leather glove.

Newly married couple Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello made their first red carpet appearance as man and wife, with Sofia opting for a tight black dress and Princess Leia-style buns in her hair.

Lupita Nyong'o also paid homage to the famous actress with her hairstyle choice, displaying several tight buns to go with her showstopping sequinned gown.

Also paying tribute to the franchise, but going the extra mile, was Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who stepped out in full Yoda costume, green ears, face paint and all. We would say this is one look we're going to copy, but perhaps we'll wait till Halloween.

Sofia and Joe weren't the only couple to act all loved-up on the red carpet - Calista Flockhart and Harrison Ford looked happy together as they posed for photos, while Modern Family star Sarah Hyland and her new boyfriend Dominic Sherwood couldn't help snogging for the cameras.

Adam Driver, who attended with his wife of two years, Joanne Tucker, also looked rather close to his Star Wars co-star Oscar Isaac - the bromance is real.

Long white dresses were clearly the order of the night, as Gwendoline Christie stepped out in a gorgeous, multi-faceted gown, and Jaime King also opted for a short white dress with dramatic back detail.

Have a look through the gallery above to see the best - and oddest - choices of the night...

Ah, spring. It's like you can feel a seismic shift the moment September 1 rolls around.

The warmer weather is on its way, the excitement in the air is palpable and your social calendar starts filling up with barbecues and garden parties.

But before we step into our summery sarongs and well-worn Havaianas, let's have a look back at some of the best trackside glamour of the Melbourne Cup for some fashion inspiration.

Because the race that stops the nation has also had its fair share of celebrity fashion that stopped the nation over the years.

1. 1960s: Jean Shrimpton shocks.

It's almost comical to think that Jean Shrimpton's frock caused so much controversy back in 1965, but not only was she wearing a one-piece shift four inches above the knee, she also dared to attend Derby Day with – gasp! – no hat, gloves or stockings.

According to a Guardian interview with Shrimpton at the time, her dressmaker, Colin Rolfe, was given insufficient fabric, but went ahead with designing four outfits anyway. Thus, the miniskirt was born – shocking what was a conservative Australia at the time. Take inspiration from Shrimpton this year with this white embellished shift dress from Aussie designers Manning Cartell. Add a pair of ladylike two-tone low heels and a black oversized clutch.

Just as an FYI, you should know that this post is sponsored by Dan Murphy's. But all opinions expressed by the author are 100% authentic and written in their own words.

2. 1970s: Pretty in purple.

Skip forward a decade, and the hippy aesthetic is obvious looking at the 1979 Fashions on the Field winner, Pamela Hayes. Iconic London designer Zandra Rhodes was at Flemington to judge the competition this year, and she chose this relaxed lilac silk print dress with a matching straw hat ensemble as the winner. We'd wear this today, if only we could track down the original.

3. 1980s: The People's Princess.

The Prince and Princess of Wales graced Flemington in 1985, and this picture proves the People's Princess rarely, if ever, put a foot wrong in the style stakes. Here she is in a stylishly appropriate black and white suit, with matching clutch, hat and heels. Update the look today with a below-the-knee skirt or black and white print dress.

4. 2010s: Sarah Jessica Parker's iconic silver jacket.

This one divided the local fashionistas in 2011, with some saying the Sex and the City star's Saunders dress, Antonio Berandi jacket and Manolo Blanik heels ensemble was 'disappointing.' But Sarah Jessica Parker was obviously privy to some insider information, knowing that the weather can turn cold at Flemington in November. And there's nothing stylish about shivering through the event inappropriately dressed in a barely there, skimpy frock.

I Recreate <b>Celebrity Fashion</b> From Garbage Bags And Shower <b>...</b>

Posted: 24 Aug 2015 01:45 AM PDT

My name is Mina Gerges (@KeepingUpWithMina) and I can turn a curtain into a $10,000 dress!

@KeepingUpWithMina is a project I started on Instagram because I don't like societal expectations that confine how we're supposed to act, dress, or look in order to fit in. In doing these pictures, I found freedom from restricting gender binaries and learned to celebrate something I love doing.

What started out as a hobby using my sister's hand-me-down makeup turned into a liberating and creative outlet for me to turn towels, curtains, and garbage bags into celebrity's most intricate red carpet dresses and elaborate photoshoots.

The A-List were out in force last night and they didn't disappoint on the red carpet.

From Claridges' glittering party in London to celebrate Christopher Baileys Burberry umbrella-inspired Christmas Tree, to a whole host of star-studded premieres and parties in New York, there were plenty of impressive sartorial choices on display. Weve rounded up a few of our favourites.

First up: Kate Hudson. As ever, the ultra-fit 36-year-old looked unbelievably chic on the red carpet - or in this case, red Campari carpet. Yes, Kate dazzled in red sequins for a night out in New York, proving that the glitzy jumpsuit can still be stylish.  Top tips to take from this standout look? Keep your hair and make-up low-key to really offset the bold red shade, and go for a wide-leg trouser to keep the outfit looking elegant. Not quite as body confident as Miss Hudson - or don't want to brave the cold? Go for a long-sleeved style thats nipped in at the waist and opt for an equally chic navy shade. Bravo, Kate.

Lily James is no stranger to a new fashion trend and last night she showcased her sartorial skills in this sheer Burberry creation. Extra points go to Lily for the slight ruffle detailing at the neckline. Not only is this look incredibly demure, but
we reckon the sheer midi (when teamed with some suitable underwear) is a perfect evening look too.

Chloe Sevigny regularly tops the best-dressed lists, and its not hard to see why. Chloes daring choices and accessorising skills gives even the simplest of dresses an effortless cool factor - and this look is no exception. The look is instantly brought to life with those statement earrings, that bold red lip and those achingly cool platform heels.

Jennifer Lawrence has been running a style marathon lately and her latest red carpet outfit could well be her best yet. Theres no doubt about it, this look is a showstopper. The tousled hair, subtle sheer detailing and dark red lip make this classic black look feel fresh and relevant. J-Law, you've wowed us again.

The drop-hem maxi dress is a look weve long been loving, and were always pleased to see this elegant silhouette on the red carpet. We reckon Olivia Wilde has totally nailed the look. The style-savvy 31-year-old made the brave decision to slip into this top-to-toe white look, pairing this high-neck number with matching heeled sandals, and cleverly managed to avoid looking too bridal. Wearing her long brunette locks pulled neatly into a low bun, she polished off the look with a slick of red lipstick.

That's our weekend wardrobe sorted, then.
